Among the 12 chosen charities for each month of the year, one of them, celebrated earlier in March, reflects the diverse interests and values of the Karndean team: International Women's Day.
Supporting International Women's Day
In a vibrant display of support for International Women's Day (IWD), the Karndean team came together dressed in purple to raise funds for 'Dress for Success,' a worldwide charity dedicated to empowering women to achieve economic independence. This inspiring event not only celebrated the essence of IWD but also aimed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women striving for success.
Karndean's choice of charity, 'Dress for Success,' aligns perfectly with the IWD spirit. This remarkable charity works tirelessly to empower women, providing them with the tools and support they need to break down barriers and achieve economic independence. By fundraising for this noble cause, the Karndean team demonstrated their commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality.
To encourage contributions to their chosen #IWD charity, Karndean offered a sweet incentive. Employees who made a donation, small or large, received a delightful gift comprising an #IWD-themed cupcake and a juice box from Cupcake Queens.
The IWD celebration went beyond fundraising, offering inspiration and empowerment with a catered morning tea for staff featuring a guest speaker Sonia, Karndean's Distribution Centre Manager, who shared her diverse career experiences, emphasising challenges and opportunities.
Sonia’s talk addressed gender discrimination, showcasing her journey as a model of resilience and barrier-breaking. It inspired dialogue on gender equality and empowerment, emphasising the role of awareness and conversation in driving change.
Throughout the year, Karndean has shown support for several staff-chosen charities, such as It's OK Not to be OK, Make-A-Wish, Earth Day, Barnardos, and more, through a variety of engaging activities, from hosting lunchtime sausage sizzles to organising fun events.
