The International Surface Event (TISE) is the largest floor covering, stone and tile industry event in North America. From January 23-25, 2019 tens of thousands of attendees visited booths at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas to see the latest products, tools and trends from manufacturers all over the world.
We have exhibited at this event for years, but with our largest spring product launch in company history approaching, our booth was filled with plenty of new products – 45 to be exact - to inspire and delight attendees and to demonstrate how at Karndean Designflooring, we see flooring differently from others in the industry.
Original Product Designs
One of the ways we see flooring differently is the way in which we develop our original product designs. We travel the world in search of expressive and intriguing forms in nature and use these features to create one-of-a-kind designs. The hickory live-edge boards you see displayed on the wall were used to develop our new Art Select Classic Hickory design shown on the floor.
At times, we secure woods that are rare or protected and develop them into our durable luxury vinyl. The American chestnut tree is commercially extinct but lives on in our new Art Select Reclaimed Chestnuts; while three Hawaiian koa colors in our Korlok Select rigid core range capture the beautiful grain detailing of koa, a treasured wood used to craft instruments, but too rare to use in flooring in its natural state.

Our team also looks to certain effects or treatments on wood and stone to develop our designs. The new fabric-inspired oaks in LooseLay Longboard embody a layered, etched effect. Other LooseLay Longboard visuals were developed using planks recovered from a tobacco barn and show the unique look caused by natural weathering.
New Sizes for Added Design Flexibility

Design inspiration aside, new parquet size formats also garnered some buzz on the show floor. Our new Art Select Glacier Oak is available in two size formats: full-size 56” x 9” planks and 18” x 3” parquet planks – perfect for those who want to carry the same color throughout a large, open space and utilize different lay patterns. We also showcased three American Barnwood Korlok Select designs in a 56” x 9” plank and a 24” x 6” herringbone plank.

Our retail partners and attendees got to see the latest visual merchandising offerings, with expanded options to suit different showroom needs.
Simply Beautiful Floors…for When Life Happens
Creating a product that can handle the needs of everyday life is nothing new for us. Show attendees saw firsthand how Korlok Select rigid core, along with all of our other products, can withstand water with our on-site waterfall.
