Specifying Sustainability seminar receives SBID accreditation

Posted on the 22/05/2021 by Karndean Designflooring

We are pleased to announce that our latest CPD seminar Specifying Sustainability: Protecting People, Planet and Prosperity has received accreditation from The Society of British & International Interior Design (SBID).

Also accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), this free seminar is relevant for professionals designing and specifying for both domestic and commercial settings and explores how sustainable design has evolved into a more people-centric approach with belonging, health and wellbeing at the core of the design process.

Fleur Carson, commercial sales director, said: “Sustainability is a topic that is vital to the future of our built environment so we are delighted that our CPD seminar has now received the approval of SBID as well as RIBA. Accreditation from these prestigious organisations, which act as the voice of the architecture and interior design industry, highlights the importance of building a prosperous green economy and the role played by materials that support health and wellbeing.

“With a focus on sustainable construction and biophilic design to support a reconnection with nature, this seminar helps designers explore how occupants are affected by our built environment and how the implementation of ‘green practices’ can lead the way to a more sustainable future. These discussions are important to help us understand how we can all work together to improve our indoor environmental quality and create spaces where people can thrive.”

The key topics covered by the seminar include:
• The effects of Indoor Environment Quality on health and wellbeing and how design can minimise these impacts throughout the lifetime of a building
• How biophilic and biomimetic design can support a reconnection with nature within the built environment
• How sustainable design and construction can minimise environmental impact, reduce energy consumption, protect health and wellbeing and build a prosperous green economy.

Led by a specialist commercial specification manager and lasting approximately one hour with time for questions, our Specifying Sustainability CPD seminar can be delivered in person, adhering to social distancing guidelines, or via video link.
