CPD: Specifying sustainability

Specifying Sustainability: Protecting People, Planet and Prosperity

Our new RIBA and SBID approved CPD seminar discusses how sustainable design has evolved into a more people-centric approach with places, health and wellbeing at the core of the design process.

Relevant for professionals designing and specifying in both domestic and commercial settings, this seminar explores how occupants are affected by the built environment and how the implementation of ‘green practices’ can lead the way for future sustainable developments.

Designed to help understand the connections betwen Indoor Environment Quality and occupants’ health and wellbeing and how sustainable design can minimise the risk of building related health problems.

Our CPD seminar will explore:

    • The key aspects of Indoor Environment Quality; air quality, acoustics and lighting, how these factors can positively or negatively affect health and wellbeing and how to reduce these impacts
    • Why sustainable design should be considered at the beginning of the specification process to improve the overall experience of occupants throughout the lifetime of a building
    • How biophilic design supports a reconnection with nature in the built environment, looking at design elements such as lighting, water and vegetation as well as the use of materials that link the building with its locality
    • The concept of biomimicry and how biomimetic design could offer a sustainable solution to future proof our built environment
    • How sustainable design and construction can minimise environmental impact, reduce energy consumption, protect health and wellbeing and build a prosperous green economy.

This RIBA approved CPD can be delivered by our UK commercial specification team in person, adhering to social distancing guidelines, or virtually if preferred.

Lasting an hour, attendees will also have access to relevant digital brochures, samples and technical information.
