Originally introduced in 2016, this refresh builds on our products’ versatility and durability with 20 timber inspired designs. On-trend timber looks include fresh European-inspired oak designs and a beautiful collection celebrating the distinctive characteristics of Australian hardwood species.

Design versatility and enduring good looks
The LooseLay Longboard range complements our LooseLay Originals range that now features 18 wood-look planks and 12 stone-inspired tiles in eight thoughtfully curated collections. Like the Originals range, our Longboards are notable for multi-directional visuals, speedy install time, superior acoustic properties, individually replaceable tiles, and seamless transition to commercial carpet tile.
The secret of Loose lay’s versatility, easy installation and low maintenance is in its multi-layered design and manufacture. Measuring 250mm wide, 1.5m in length and 4.5mm in thickness, LooseLay Longboard planks are the longest across our product range.

Transformation is fast and easy
At the base, our K-Wave® friction grip backing holds the product in place using a combination of weight and friction. With no clicking and no locking and only a minimal amount of Hi-Tack Pressure Sensitive adhesive required, transforming any space is fast and easy. It’s ideal for overnight retrofits or any project with tight turnaround times.
Karndean LooseLay Longboard can be laid over most existing hard floors with minimal preparation as well as over subfloors with an RH of up to 95%. The multi-layered design also means loose lay planks are dimensionally stable. Without the need for transition strips or expansion gaps, your chosen design can be seamlessly carried between rooms or throughout a space. As planks are identically sized across the collection, it provides the option to incorporate multiple colours or species into your floor design. The loose lay format also provides the versatility to lay planks in diagonal or herringbone designs to further define the space.

The layered construction of our floors includes a protective top layer called K-Guard+ that helps protect floors from scuffs, scratches, spills and stains. K-Guard+ assures commercial-grade durability without sacrificing appearance. However, should you ever need to replace a damaged plank, you can simply lift and replace the individual plank.
Loose lay is Karndean’s most ergonomic flooring product. Designed to perform in a wide variety of environments, it is a popular choice for residential developments, hotels, retail environments and restaurants, hospitals and healthcare facilities. The product is often specified for temporary and planned removal spaces.

Our acoustic performance is beautiful too
Compared with hardwood, stone and laminate flooring, Karndean loose lay is significantly quieter underfoot. It’s engineered to meet strict acoustic rating standards and delivers an impressive noise transfer reduction. It’s suitable and compliant for multi-residential developments and ideal where you want to reduce noise transfer between floors or under stairs.
